If your in love and want to spend the rest of your life with the one your marrying, then materilistic things shouldn't matter. Everyone in this world is so hung up on money and "bling", you don't get married to get the ring, you marry for love, honesty and commitment. Inflation is crazy these days, could you imagine what a ring would could in another two hundred years? So not worth it. I believe you don’t have to spend your retirement on a ring.
